The Bergenfield Police Department is currently investigating
a possible suicidal person at a Frederick Place address. There is a history of
police contacts with the individual, a 46-year-old male, residing at the location.
The police have requested the Bergen County Regional SWAT Unit to assist with
attempts to make contact with the person possibly at risk.
Based on the person’s
recent arrest by the Bergenfield Police that involved resistance, we are taking
all precautions to investigate further. There are no known weapons on the premises
and no threats have been made regarding use of weapons, however, the police and
SWAT are handling the situation taking all possibilities into account.
The area of New Bridge Road and Frederick Place is
barricaded to traffic until the situation is resolved.
