Press Release-Attempt to identify vehicle / driver


On Thursday, 8-25-16 at approximately 1:06 pm, the Bergenfield Police Department received a 911 call regarding a Motor Vehicle Crash, with injuries, in the area of W. Clinton Avenue and Melrose Avenue. Upon the arrival of Officers, it was determined that one of the vehicles was seen fleeing the scene Eastbound on W. Clinton Avenue. The 78 year old female driver of the vehicle who was struck, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Witnesses described the fleeing vehicle as an older model, blue/green Subaru hatchback, possibly an Outback. Video surveillance provided an additional description of the fleeing vehicle and it is described as having front, driver’s side damage, as well as a flat, front driver’s side tire and a spare donut tire for the front passenger side tire.
The driver of the vehicle who was struck was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment for her injuries.
