On Saturday, August 31, 2014 at approximately 3am, Police
Officer Joseph Arrigo was on patrol and came upon an altercation at the
intersection of West Clinton Ave and Portland Ave. Officer Arrigo immediately turned on his
emergency lights and sirens and requested additional units respond to the area
for assistance.
Officers arrived and defused the situation. Upon speaking to all involved, it was
determined the altercation began with yelling and shortly thereafter, escalated
to a physical altercation.
During the physical altercation, the accused used a belt and
threw bricks at the victims.
One victim sustained minor scratches and abrasions from the
belt and another victim sustained a head laceration from being hit with a
thrown brick.
The accused male was identified as Alejandro Gonzalez age 24
of Englewood, NJ. Gonzalez was placed
under arrest and transported to police headquarters without incident.
One victim refused medical aid and the other was transported
to an area hospital for medical attention.
Judge Helene Herbert was contacted and issued three warrants
for the following charges; one count of aggravated assault (2C:12-1B(2)), two
counts of possession of a weapon (2C:39-4d) and one count of simple assault
(2C:12-1A(1)). Bail was set at $40,500 no 10% allowed. Gonzalez was unable to post bail and was
transported to Bergen County Jail.
